First released in October 1987, the triple pitch, 12 cps, 7 kg Olympia “Carrera Si” is an upgrade on the 1985 dual pitch, 10 cps, 6.5 kg “Carrera”. Both portable typewriters were manufactured in Germany (unlike other “Carrera” models (Carrera S/Carrera II/Carrera II WP/Carrera MD/Carrera 2000) that were outsourced from Japan and (in the case of the Carrera 2000) Korea.
