The TA Triumph Adler Royal IF 600 interface box has serial (RS 232C) and parallel (Centronics) ports and connects to the 8 pin din port of a compatible typewriter via an 8 pin connector cable.
The control panel allows the (Typewriter, Onine, Offline) operating state of the Typewriter and the Interface box to be selected. Clear, Copy, Line Feed and Form Feed functions are also provided.
Setup involves selecting an (IBM, ASCII or language-specific) national character set and a corresponding printwheel group.
In addition to dip switch settings, there are a series of software codes which print and format text and control printer operations. These Control Codes and Escape Sequences are used to configure applications (i.e. word processing) software.
